Questions? You’re in the right place.
If life after sepsis has left you with more questions than answers, you're kind of our people.

Zero Instructions is a place for sepsis survivors and the people who love them. The name comes from an experience that feels familiar to far too many survivors: you make it through something life-altering, leave the hospital, and suddenly find yourself wondering what comes next.
In a way, it can feel like you were sent home with zero instructions.
That’s the heart behind the name, and the reason this space exists. To bring together the stories, resources, conversations, and connection that can make life after sepsis feel a little less uncertain and a lot less lonely.
-
Sepsis survivors, caregivers, family members, and anyone trying to better understand life after sepsis. Whether your experience happened last month or years ago, you’re welcome here.
-
Zero Instructions is an advocacy, education, and community resource, not a medical provider. The information shared here isn’t intended to diagnose or treat medical conditions or replace care from your healthcare team.
-
You’re not the only person asking this. Some survivors describe physical, cognitive, and emotional changes after sepsis. Recovery can look very different from person to person, which is one of the reasons Zero Instructions exists: to make these conversations easier to find.
-
Maybe, but symptoms can have many different causes. We encourage survivors to pay attention to changes, write down what they’re experiencing, ask questions, and bring those concerns to an appropriate healthcare professional.
-
Absolutely. There isn't an expiration date on wanting to understand what happened to you. If you're still connecting dots, processing your experience, or simply want to hear from people who understand, you're welcome here.

Start wherever you are. Read a survivor story. Explore the resources. Learn about VOICE. Or simply spend some time realizing that some of the questions you've been carrying aren't yours alone.
-
Yes. Sepsis doesn't happen to one person in isolation. Caregivers and loved ones can carry their own questions, exhaustion, fear, and experiences after a medical crisis. Zero Instructions is meant to make room for those stories too.
-
Yes. We believe survivor and caregiver stories can help someone else feel less alone. Share Your Story →

VOICE is a framework Jackie created from her own experience navigating life after sepsis. It stands for Validate, Own Your Timeline, Inform, Connect, and Expect to Advocate. It was created to give survivors and caregivers somewhere to begin when they aren't sure what to do next.
